چکیده

The educational experience in pathological physiology at the First Faculty of Medicine, Charles University in Prague shows that physiology and pathological physiology are closely related to physics, biochemistry and other technical disciplines which medical students are not used to. Deep understanding of physiological systems and regulations is very hard to achieve only by studying textbooks without appropriate learning tools. Therefore our objective is to incorporate computers into the process of education. A big part of our elearning activities resides in the development of applications which demonstrate the behavior of non-trivial physiological systems, their dynamics and regulation in a schematic, easily understandable, yet still precise manner. It is important to keep the form familiar to the students (similar to textbook illustrations) and to enable them to affect the simulation interactively, experiment with it and explain the complexity by experiencing the issue in a virtual reality. Simulations allow to demonstrate complex dependencies in physiological regulation systems and causal chains in pathogenesis of various diseases.

Enhancing learning through optimal sequencing of web-based and manikin simulators to teach shock physiology in the medical curriculum.

The Association of American Medical Colleges has encouraged educators to investigate proper linkage of simulation experiences with medical curricula. The authors aimed to determine if student knowledge and satisfaction differ between participation in web-based and manikin simulations for learning shock physiology and treatment and to determine if a specific training sequencing had a differentia...

Web Multimedia Simulation for Biomedical Teaching

We present the current state of the technology used for web multimedia educational simulator development. The main aim is to provide novel interactive multimedia application that can be used for biomedical education where (a) simulations are combined with tutorials, and (b) the presentation layer is simplified while the complexity of the model is kept beneath. The development of the multimedia ...

Implementing an Educational Platform of Constructivist Learning into Elementary Mathematics Classrooms

In Mexico, the conventional teaching approach, when applied specifically to elementary school, seems to fall short of attaining the overall quality objective. The main consequence of this problem is when teachers are not sure that their students really understand the dynamic nature of concepts and mechanism since an early age, particularly in elementary school. This paper presents a pedagogical...

School as a (multimedia Simulation) Game: the Use of Object Tools for Designing Multime- Dia Applications for Biomedical Teaching

Nowadays, Comenius’s old motto – “schola ludus” (“school as play”) has found a modern use in interactive educational programs using simulation games. Educational applications using simulation games, available through the web, represent a new educational aid, very effi cient from the didactic point of view in explaining complex pathophysiological processes. However, the process of creating them ...
